The Ottawa Adult Soccer Club has chosen the Kanata Food Cupboard as their 2024 charity partner.

The Kanata Food Cupboard saw a large increase in demand in 2023 as high grocery inflation hit Kanata's less fortunate families hard. "We have seen a 21% increase in the number of families accessing our services over the past year" said Executive Director Cara-Leigh Wyllie " Currently we are serving over 350 Kanata families each month"

The Kanata Food Cupboard receives no government funding. Its existence is dependent on the generous donations from the local Kanata community. The Ottawa Adult Soccer Club joined that community when Club President Tim Baigent and General Manager Dawn Dinsdale presented Cara-Leigh with a cash donation on behalf of our members.

"We are delighted to make this donation to a very valuable and important charity in our community." said President Tim Baigent. "We hope that it will help Cara-Leigh and her staff make a big difference to those people most in need"

The partnership will also see a food drive in June as volunteers from the Kanata Food Cupboard will visit our games to collect grocery donations from our players.
"Our players have always been generous to local charities and I am sure they will be again," said General Manager Dawn Dinsdale.

"We very much appreciate this donation from the Ottawa Adult Soccer Club, " said Cara-Leigh "and we look forward to the food drive in June"
